Senior Infrastructure Specialist

Overview

We have an urgent requirement for a Senior Infrastructure Specialist with experience in the operations and maintenance of ICT systems for our banking client in Oman.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific technical specialism including computer hardware, operating systems and related products, provides expert advice regarding their application, and utilizes this knowledge in performing job duties.
• Operate and support servers, SANs, printers and associated IT peripherals; support for email, domain management and related systems; administration and management of operating system and other system software; administration and maintenance of PCs, laptops, PC software and related equipment as level two.
• Furthers the IT Infrastructure goals of the Department, such as reducing cost and improving performance, by the approved and specified use of emerging technologies and products.
• Provide inputs to the service continuity planning process, and implement the approved plans that the defined levels of continuity for the IT Infrastructure are achieved.
• Provide project management services for the IT Division / Business Unit Infrastructure projects, including identifying and mitigating project risk, ensuring quality in project delivery, and utilizing assigned resources efficiently.
• Manage the installation, testing, commissioning / decommissioning of computer hardware and systems software in accordance with agreed standards, quality and safety plans.
• Operate and maintain the IT Division / Infrastructure, monitor its performance, adhere to defined maintenance and support procedures, and ensure that established service levels are achieved.
• Monitor IT component capacity, and follow agreed policies and procedures to proactively resolve and project shortfalls.
• Monitor the Infrastructure unit for achievement of agreed performance targets and service levels; document and implement the arrangements for disaster recovery; assist in conducting regular testing of the recovery procedures.
• Monitor service delivery of the IT Infrastructure components against established service level agreements, diagnose service delivery problems, and initiate action to maintain and continuously improve the level of service.
• Provide specialist expertise in the review, evaluation, installation, testing, upgrading and maintenance of system software such as operating systems and related utility software, and in the resolution of any associated service delivery problems.
• Monitor the application of and compliance with security operations procedures for areas of responsibility and review the IT Infrastructure for breaches in security, and take appropriate remedial actions.
• Operate the IT Infrastructure of the Division, ensure that the Infrastructure is managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures, and contribute to the resolution of operational problems.
• Manage the storage and backup systems of the Division to provide agreed levels of service, security, storage optimization, and recovery and growth capacity, in compliance with the bank’s data retention and data protection requirements.
• Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in the IT Infrastructure and implement agreed solutions and measures.
• Supervise the assigned project team members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Ensure all related activities are in accordance with bank’s policies, procedures, and standards.
