Job Purpose

To contribute to the profitability and prosperity of AkzoNobel Oman by supervising the Processing operations in such a manner that all resources are in place and focused towards achieving excellent customer service in accordance with Supply Chain Strategy.

To plan and execute the safe processing operations of all product batches in line with good manufacturing practices and to ensure compliance to all applicable HSE, Quality and relevant company policies.

Major Tasks :

a) Manage batch processing operations in line with quality and HSE&S requirements

b) Ensure that equipment is well maintained and in good order for all operational requirements

c) Full delivery of the Production plan requirement in line with monthly and weekly production schedules

d) Close coordination with all departmental and functional stakeholders

e) Manage bacterial hygiene and sanitation activities at site

f) Implement Safety, Health & Environment & Quality activities

g) Team management and development

Responsibilities

Manage batch processing operations in line with quality and HSE&S requirements

  • Plan and execute daily / weekly batch processing operations based on production schedules, prioritizing efficiency and minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor and control processing machines performance, adjusting equipment and batch sizes as needed to meet targets and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly, escalating complex problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, output, and cost reduction.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and consumables, ensuring sufficient stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all batch processing activities.

Ensure that equipment is well maintained and in good order for all operational requirements

  • Coordinate with Engineering department for preventative maintenance schedules for all processing equipment, ensuring adherence and minimizing disruptions.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with the maintenance department, prioritizing critical equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential problems and ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Ensure that all equipment are clean and in accordance with required sanitization and hygiene practices
  • Full delivery of the Production plan requirement in line with monthly and weekly production schedules

  • Collaborate with RM Store, Packing and Scheduling to ensure accurate and timely delivery of the Production plan.
  • Communicate production targets and priorities to the Processing Operators team, ensuring clear understanding and alignment.
  • Monitor production progress against the plan, identifying and addressing any deviations or bottlenecks.
  • Prepare and submit reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, efficiency, and downtime.
  • Close coordination with all departmental and functional stakeholders

  • Liaise with quality control to ensure adherence to product quality standards and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely posting of finished batches and transfer to the warehouse locations.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, such as Processing, RM Store, Scheduling, QC, Logistics and Engineering, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Implement Safety, Health & Environment & Quality activities

  • Ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP) are updated and available for Processing activities.
  • Participate in all HSE&S requirements for production, e.g. Hazard studies and HSE common platform, toolbox talks
  • Adhere to applicable ISO standards principle and practices
  • Maintain the allocated HSE&S elements for the functional area
  • Ensure that all HSE and Quality policies, procedures and standards are followed in the department
  • Perform risk management for department and provide assistance in the company risk management process
  • Model the safety culture for Processing teams
  • Team management and development

  • Ensure that all staffing requirements for Processing operations are adequately fulfilled at all times
  • Ensure that all operators have all the required compliance, HSE and Quality trainings completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain functional training need analysis for all operators
  • Ensure that all functional training requirements for operators are completed in a timely manner
  • Identify development focus areas for operators and prepare action plans with development goals for them
  • Requirements

  • Bachelors University qualification (engineering, sciences or supply chain related fields)
  • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in the manufacturing environment.
  • Good analytical ability
  • Ability to work un-supervised
  • High Excel proficiency
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (Eg SAP, etc)
  • At least multilingual capabilities (including English) for effective cross departmental communication
