Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Specialist (F-16)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs and supervises aircraft electrical and environmental (E&E) functions and activities, acting as an experienced 5 Level Journeyman or 7 Level Craftsman.
• Troubleshoots, inspects, removes, installs, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and operates aircraft E&E systems, components, and associated support equipment.
• Uses technical data, wiring diagrams, ohm meters, electronic measuring equipment, GSE and special tools. Demonstrates expert level in accomplishing and training wire repair procedures.
• Uploads operational software and flight programs (OFP) into system components and maintains currency and software upgrade efficiency.
• Inspects, analyzes, and evaluates electrical and environmental systems malfunctions, including aircraft heating / air conditioning, avionics cooling, cabin pressure, OBOGS, fire and overheat detection systems, AC / DC power systems, external power, lighting (exterior, interior, emergency, position, anti-collision, formation, slipway, taxi).
• Performs removal, installation, adjustment, operational check, bench-check, and service of systems such as landing gear, control switches, arresting hook indicators, canopy indicators, master cautions, anti-skid, nose gear steering, secondary flight controls, engine bleed air, fire extinguishing system, squibs, fire bottles, start / ignition, air conditioning, pressurization, and liquid cooling systems.
• Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions.
• Reviews maintenance publications, time compliance technical orders, and procedures for accuracy and currency; confirms corrective actions and maintenance records.
• Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures; acts as quality assurance for the trade.
• Performs on-the-job training, provides supervision and mentorship for RAFO technicians, and directs daily maintenance within the shop.
• Performs assigned tasks within the work center that directly support the essential functions of this job classification.
