Job Description
The senior GL Accountant position is accountable for assisting the Accounting Manager with respect to the accounting operations of the company. It includes the production of periodic statutory financial reports, the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, develop a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with international financial reporting standards as well as local statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic
- Assist in providing / analyzing financial information to guide management in their strategic business decision making processes.
- Provide in- / outputs to the Business Plan / Budget as and when required.
- Generate ad-hoc Reports as and when needed.
- Maintain rapport with various stakeholders (Internal or / and External)
Operational
Ensure appropriate booking of business transactions at both Company and Parent levels.Production of various General Ledger Reports that are required.Ensure timely and accurate monthly / quarterly / half yearly / year end closing reportsCoordinate and collect the required information from all investees, subsidiaries, associated companies for the purpose of generating consolidated financial reports or any other reporting requirements.Ensure Finance Team Members are aware of Closing Procedures and all transactions are processed and sub ledgers are closed accurately and on time.Carry out regular verification, auditing of transactions and sub ledgers to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.Produce Company financial statements (Statement of Financial Position, Profit or Loss, Changes in Equity, Cash Flow, etc.)Lead the closing processes and activities (Monthly, Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annually etc.)Lead all audit activities (Internal and External)Produce inputs required for the various reports for management, Ministry of finance, Tax Authority, etc.Related Assignments
Operate Oracle System for the Purpose of producing the financial and the provision of various reports required from time to time.Liaise with IT, the Oracle team, with initiatives to improve the system to produce reports and or complete tasks at hand in a more efficient way.Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent.An additional professional accounting qualification ACCA or CPA etc. is preferable or presenting evidence of good progress on achieving accounting certification.A minimum of 6 years of experience, with minimum of 3 Years similar position.Key Skills & Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS Requirements.Data analytical skills.Excellent Knowledge of Oracle system and its various accounting functionality.Knowledge and understanding of accounting and reporting requirements for a holding company with a number of Investees, Subsidiaries and associate Companies.Fluency in English and preferably in Arabic, too .Excellent Excel Skills.Ability to handle various Audit requirements and timelines
